What’s the difference between your two properties, Mountain Lakes Lodge and North Shore Resort?
MLL has fun, themed units, on the Granby-Shadow Mountain Canal. Most have French doors, tiny decks and tiny fenced backyards. There are two banks of five units and two houses. There are lots of silly signs, chachkies, surprises, an herb garden, berry bushes and a second “Friends and Family” fire pit.
NSR is a more traditionally decorated property with direct access to Lake Granby year round. The building is u-shaped and the bottom of the “u” holds our 150’shared deck with gorgeous views of the lake and Continental Divide. At either end of the deck is a 3-Bedroom/2-Bath Suite and our other eight units vary from a studio to a 5-person unit.
Which place is nicer?
It depends on your preferences. NSR is more serious, pretty, conventional, traditional and more about being on the lake and the having a view. MLL is silly, fun, rustic, surprising and is more about the units.
Which place has more privacy?
NSR is off the highway, but the deck and outsides are all shared. MLL has individual yards, but they’re close to each other. You can have a private fire at the “Friends and Family” fire pit at MLL.
Are the units free-standing?
No. NSR is a single u-shaped building. At MLL , units 1-5 are attached and units 6-10 are attached. The little Log House is attached to The Farm House via our laundry and storage.
How far are you from town?
Mountain Lakes Lodge is on Hwy 34 about 10.5 miles from Granby and 4 miles from Grand Lake Village. North Shore Resort is about .5 miles further southeast and a mile off Hwy 34.
Is there a view?
At NSR, units 1-8 access our 150’ long shared deck from which you can see Lake Granby and the Continental Divide. Units 01 (the Lake Granby Suite Add-on) and unit 9 are at the front of the building and don’t have views.
At MLL, units 1-5 have a good view of the canal, a horse pasture and the Continental Divide. The view in unit 6 is partially blocked by the fort in the backyard. The views in units 7-9 are partially blocked by trees, less so in the winter. The view in unit 10 is good. The Little Log House and The Farm House are towards the front of the property and don’t have much of a view.
Can I park my “toy” or trailer there?
Yes, we have ample parking at both places. We also offer indoor and outdoor off-season storage for your toys!
Do you have a group meeting area?
We have large outdoor areas at both properties. We also have a 10’x14’ canopy and the deck area at NSR. Indoor meeting spaces there are limited to the suites, which will hold a maximum of 30 people. The largest indoor space at MLL is The Farm House, in which we’d recommend no more than 20.
Do you have tent sites?/Can we set up a tent on the grounds?
Do you have a public laundry?
No. There are laundry-mats in Grand Lake and Granby.
Can we bring our pet?
Yes. We allow up to 2 dogs of a combined total up to 80lbs, per unit. We allow other types of pets on an individual basis. The $35 fee covers the duration of their stay. Guests bringing undeclared pets will be charged $35 per day with a minimum of $50.
Do you have pet-free units?
Yes, at NSR #5 and at MLL, The Little Log House are both pet-free.
We are unable to offer discounts to any booking from travel agencies or travel services (Expedia, Travelocity, etc.)
Call us directly to inquire about availability and to find out what discounts we have to offer! (970) 627-8448
Do you have availability?/ What are the rates?/What does that room look like?/Where can I see more pictures and a description of that room?
By going to “Availability” (Book Now) and putting in your dates and the number in your party, you’ll be able to see everything available for both properties for those dates. Only units that are available will show up. If you want to be at NSR, be sure the name of the unit includes “North Shore”. The ones with the cute names are the themed ones at MLL, which is on the canal (no lake view). Click on the thumbnail picture to see additional pictures.
Do you discount for AAA, AARP, military, government, etc.?
We are an equal opportunity discounter and are not affiliated with discount travel groups. The first night is always full price. After that discounting depends on the season, days of the week and number of units and nights you book. We’ll gladly discount for anyone working 60-80 hours per week and making less money than we do!
Do you have seasonal or long term rentals and how much do they cost?
We offer seasonal rentals in the fall, winter and spring. The price is based on historic income for the unit for the past 4 years during the same time period. Summer rentals would be prohibitively expensive ($3,000/month and up for our smallest units). We can rent RV spots for the whole summer, though.
Do you have a hot tub or pool?
No, but we do have discounted tickets to Hot Sulphur Springs, which is about 20 miles.
Do you have BBQs and/or campfires?
Yes, we have gas and charcoal grills at both places. We provide the propane, but please bring your own charcoal. We have Community Fire Pits at both places. MLL has an additional “Friends and Family” Fire Pit, where you can enjoy a private fire on a first come first served basis.
Do you provide linens and bedding?
Yes. All bed, bath and kitchen linens are provided.
Do you have a restaurant/serve breakfast/have restaurants nearby?
We have kitchenettes where you can prepare you own food. There are several restaurants within ½ to 3 miles, serving anything from bar fare to upscale European food. Grand Lake and Granby have many more.
What’s in the kitchenette?
Appliances include microwave, coffee maker, toaster and one of the following:
Various sizes of pots, fry pans, microwave-safe casserole dish, serving bowls, platter, ice cube trays.
Utensils such as veggie peeler, whisk, spatula, lg. spoons, wooden spoon, can/bottle opener, wine opener, variety of knives, measuring cups/spoons.
Plates, bowls, glasses/cups, mugs, flatware for maximum room occupancy
What are the office hours?
We’re in the office on an as needed basis. During the hours of 8am-10pm, we’re available for “regular stuff” such as answering questions and attending to guest needs. Please call and leave a message, as we may be unable to answer the phone immediately. Our work days are 14 hours long- Please only call outside those hours in an emergency. We will let the phone go to voice mail, so please leave a message.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Please see it under “Policies” on our websites or on your confirmation.
What time is check-in?/Can I check in early?
Check-in is between 3pm and 9pm daily. Please don’t ask to check in early. We have a small staff and a lot to take care of. While your room may be ready early, others may not be. Interruptions for early check-ins make it very difficult to finish our work and have everyone’s room ready.
What time is check-out?/ Can I have a late check-out?
Check-out is at 10am. We will allow a late check-out if our schedule allows. You’ll be charged $20/hour for check-outs after noon.
How do I check out?
There is no need to stop by the office to check out and we’re unlikely to be there. At NSR, please leave your key on the table and lock the front door. At MLL please put the key in the front door lock, so we know you’ve gone.
Can we go in the water?
At NSR, you can wade, swim, boat or fish in Lake Granby. We advise you to wear water shoes, since there may be fish hooks present under water. At MLL, you can fish the canal, but cannot go in the water in or out of a craft.
Is smoking allowed?
There is absolutely no smoking in any of our buildings. Please don't allow smoke to drift into open doors and windows. There is a deep cleaning fee of $250-$350 for rooms have smoke smell or damage and you won't be welcome back. Smoking is prohibited within 15' of our common building entrances and common areas. This includes all walkways, community campfires and shared front porches. At North Shore Resort, it also includes the boardwalks, main deck, stairways and large garage door.
Butts are trash; Please don't LITTER by throwing them on the ground! (We pick up hundreds of butts each year on the properties.)
Butts are a fire hazard; Please extinguish and dispose of them properly. (Not on our wood siding.)
Please be considerate of other guests and staff; Don't allow drifting smoke to bother others who may have allergies, asthma or other sensitivities.
Smoking is allowed the following places on the properties:
-On the grounds, but at least 15' from playgrounds, community campfires and all building entrances* that aren't exclusive to your unit.
(*doorways, windows, stairways, walkways, decks)
-In your vehicle in the parking area. (It's the only place you may smoke marijuana.)
-North Shore Resort:
-If you occupy #01 (the Lake Granby Suite Add-On) or Unit #9, you may smoke on the small decks each of them have at the front of the building**.
-Either parking area.
-Mountain Lakes Lodge:
-At the Friends and Family Campfires. (private/1st come-1st served)
-On the back deck and in the little yard of your unit**.
(**with doors and windows closed from drifting smoke)
Can I bring additional people and just let them sleep on the couch or floor?
We discourage bringing more people than there are bed spaces to sleep them and you must pay an added $10/person/night for both adults and children over capacity. Due to Colorado Dept of Health and Fire Dept. regulations, you must ask management in advance so we can determine if we can accommodate them while operating within the law.
Is there a pull-out couch or can people sleep on the couch?
We don’t have any pull-out couches. Most of our couches are just love seats and could only accommodate a small child. If you do let someone sleep on the couch, you MUST cover the couch with a sheet or bring a CLEAN sleeping bag and pillow for them. You are responsible for accidents and could be charged to replace the couch.
What are the quiet hours?
Quiet hours are between 10:30pm and 8am. If your group rents the whole place, you decide quiet hours- Just be considerate of our neighbors, so they don’t call the police, please!
What are “Housekeeping Units”?
We don’t come in daily to make beds or clean rooms. If you need more of anything, just ask. Please do your dishes and take your trash to the dumpster. It’s not necessary (or very helpful) to make or strip beds, just leave the unit in reasonable shape.
The units are attached, so why do you call them “cabins”?
Many of our guests call them “cabins”, so sometimes we do, too. With vaulted ceilings, log beams and wood floors (MLL) and ½” thick wood paneled walls (NSR), they are hybrids and difficult to categorize.
Here are some definitions that may help:
